William Larry Spindler, age 83, of Turnersville, NJ, passed away on June 24th surrounded by his family, including his devoted and loving wife Pat.
Bill was born and raised in Wheeling, WV, and graduated from the US Merchant Marine Academy with a marine engineering degree. He went on to work for the Navy for 36 years before retiring as a Supervisory Mechanical Engineer, Steam Generation and Auxiliary Equipment Branch Manager at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division. An avid fisherman and a prolific reader, Bill loved to spend his time outdoors in nature, particularly on lakes and rivers competing in bass fishing tournaments.
On August 4th of this year, Bill and his wife Pat would have observed their 60th wedding anniversary. Together they attended St. John’s United Methodist Church for many years. Bill enjoyed his family and especially his grandchildren. They had four children: Jim (Leslie), Sue (Bill), Sharon (Bill), and Karen (Mike); ten grandchildren: Jeremy (Ellie), Kyle, Dillon, Jonah (Rebecca), Alexandrine, Abby, Rachel, Lauren (Brett), William, and Jessie; and one great-granddaughter, Quinn. Preceding Bill in death was his one and only sibling, a much-beloved brother, George Richard Spindler.
His life will be celebrated on Thursday, June 30, at Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Visitation is from 9:00-11:00am, with a funeral service starting at 11:00.
