William C. Gooch, on June 4, 2021, of Washington Twp. Age 92. Beloved husband of the late Bernice (nee Lang). Loving father of Peggy Sateja (John), Bill Gooch, Jr., (Lucille), Joe Gooch, Mary Beth Campanella (John), Tom Gooch (Melissa), Mike Gooch (Eileen) and Suzie Williamson (Rick). Devoted grandfather of Laurie, Brian, Nicole, Bobby, Shaun, Kelly, Jackie, Nicholas, Josh, Jeffrey, Mikey, David, Trevor, Jacob, J’lynn, Kerynn, Maddie, Cole and Caity. Cherished great-grandfather of Poppy, Breck, Madison, William, Gwen, Bobby Lee, Savannah, Michael, Vienna, Austin, Wyatt, Arabella, Michael Jr., Addison, Anna Bernice and Lexi.
Bill was born in Manchester, NH and moved to South Jersey at an early age and was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Camden. Bill graduated St. Joseph’s HS, South Camden Class of 1949 where he continued to be an active member of their alumni. After serving in the US Air Force, he spent most of his career as a Camden Mail Carrier, where he was well known and loved by everyone on his route. After moving to Turnersville, Bill became an active member of the Legion of Mary at SS Peter & Paul Church. His passion for sports, led him to follow in his father’s footsteps as a referee, where he officiated numerous football and basketball games for many years. This love of sports continued through his life. He was an avid Red Sox fan and a huge supporter of his many grandchildren’s athletic activities.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Thursday 7:00 – 8:30 pm at SS Peter & Paul RC Church, 362 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. and Friday 9:00 – 9:45 am at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 1010 Liberty St., Camden, NJ 08104. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chews Landing.
