Rudolph Orazio Grassia
On January 11, 2021 of Washington Twp. Age 93. Beloved husband of the late Sara (nee Montano). Devoted father of Nicholas Grassia (Annette), Anna LaGreca (Joseph), John Grassia (Alisha) and the late Catherine and Rudolph Grassia. Loving grandfather of Debra, Joseph, Angela, Christina, Jake, Dominque, John, and the late Stephen. Proud great-grandfather of Sara, Dante, John, Antonio, Quinn, Bodie, Charlotte, Stephen, Frankie, Paul, Martina, Connor, Erica, Cecilia, and Caitlin. Dear brother of Jeanette Grassia. Loved by nieces and nephews.
On January 11, 2021, Rudolph Orazio Grassia passed away peacefully in his home. He was 93 years old. Rudolph was born in South Philadelphia to Italian immigrants, Giovanni and Marianna Grassia. He grew up in a large family with four brothers and five sisters. Rudolph married Sara Montana in 1952 and they went on to have five children.
As a teenager, he worked as a butcher in the Italian Market.
Later in life, Rudolph joined the meat cutters union, eventually holding positions as a Business Agent and President.
In his spare time, Rudolph enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, and customizing fishing rods and pool sticks. Rudolph enjoyed playing the lottery, his scratch-off lottery tickets, and watching horse racing.
Rudolph was a devoted father, Grandfather, and Great-Grand father. Rudolph’s family was everything to him and he loved being with them as much as possible. He will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend his vieiwng Friday 7:00-9:00 PM and Saturday 8:45-9:45 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM at SS Peter & Paul RC Church, Washington Twp. Interment, New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.
