Roy J. “Sonny” Shirley
On May 16, 2018, of Washington Twp. Age 75. Beloved husband of Mildred M. (nee Gatto). Devoted father of Jeanine Youse (Joseph) and the late Roy J. Shirley, Jr. Loving grandfather of Mariah and Joseph. Dear brother of Karolyn Shirley Carter and the late Janet Schillinger. Loving step-father of Joanne Talarico, Karen Fitzgerald, and Angela Vandegrift.
Through his lifetime, Sonny had many talents and hobbies including building model airplanes, raising show dogs, camping, and the sport of archery. He is most remembered by his family as the Leonardo di Vinci of woodwork, which is exhibited by the many works of art in his own home. When Sonny wasn’t talking about his many interests, you could find him listening to sports on his radio. Sonny was a devoted Eagles fan, so it was no surprise he was ecstatic when the Eagles won the Superbowl. He always put a smile on everyone’s face with his great sense of humor that will live on in the many stories told about Sonny.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Wednesday 10:00-11:00 am at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Funeral Service 11:00 am. Inurnment Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill.
