Linda,
You were and always will be one of the most joyous people I know. From meeting you at Bells Lake Community Club, to babysitting Eric, to being a colleague at Chestnut Ridge my 1st year of teaching after I raised my 3 sons, you will forever be an inspiration and bubbly treasure in my life!
Rest easy! I know your Mom and Dad celebrate with you in Heaven! I will live and miss and treasure you forever!
Mr.Jack and Eric, i'm so very deeply sorry for your loss. Mrs.Martins was the nicest person I've ever met in my life. She always made me feel special and remembered my birthday for the past 25 years. She always encouraged me and was always interested in talking to me about me and my wife's real estate business. I will always remember her inviting me over to not catch fish on the lake with Eric. When I would hang out with Eric, she always acted like we were angels and were not capable of getting in any trouble...haha. I can still hear her laugh in my head. I loved her and miss her already. You both are in my prayers. Let's make sure we stay in touch.

This is just such a terrible loss of a lovely lady. As a friend of Maria and Bill's, I met Linda when hanging out with Maria and her Mom in New Jersey. She was a gracious hostess and I too remember that beautiful smile. I know she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Dear Jack and family, it has been many years since we saw each other. Linda was always bubbly and made my sister and I laugh. I remember we were jumping on her bed in Newark. We had some great times. I just want you to know how very sorry we are for your loss and pray for all of you.

To Linda's family, I will miss her dearly. Linda served as my mentor, my friend, my work mom. She, along with two other seasoned reading teachers, were the foundation of my development as a reading teacher. I so looked forward to our mid day lunches during our workshops. It wasn't just that she was there for me for work needs; we talked about our lives, our families, and our joys. I could go on and on... I will always remember Linda with love, fondness, and appreciation. - Kelly E
Linda you are so thoughtful of everyone. I will never forget subbing for you and your confidence in my helping with your class. We shared so memories and I will always remember our lunches together. God bless you and may god hold hold you in the palm of his hand

Martins family... so sorry for the loss of your wife, mother and grandmother. What a great woman Linda was. When I worked at CRMS, Linda always had the biggest smile on her face and always greeted you with the biggest "Good Morning." She was always so positive and even when the kids would complain about doing the work, Linda made sure they still worked to the best of their potential. She really loved teaching and especially Reading. Such a classy, vibrant lady who knew how to dress. Her smile and positive vibe will be missed.

What an amazing woman and educator. Always a smile and a helping hand. Taught family members at Birches and they still speak highly of her after decades.
She will be missed. In our prayers,
So sorry for your loss,

I last saw Linda at the Dollar Store last summer. My two older sons had Linda as their teacher in Birches School many years ago. My oldest son feigned a stomach ache so he wouldn't get in trouble for not doing his homework. I was summoned by the nurse to come and pick him up from school. When we arrived home Joe went to his room and began playing with his baseball cards. I told him that if he was sick he couldn't play, he told me then that he was faking being sick and why. I told him to put his coat on and drove him back to school. I told him that he needed to tell Mrs. Martins the truth. He told her that he had lied to her when he asked to go to the nurse and why he had lied. He told her he was sorry and would never do it again. She was amazing with him! She told him how smart he was in thinking this scheme out and that she was so proud of him admitting his mistake in judgment! She told him to take his seat and that this incident would be forgotten. Mrs. Martins turned to me and said that she understood how hard it was for him to admit that he was wrong and meet her face to face. She also commended me for helping him to make the right decision. Mrs. Martins went on to middle school and I didn't hear from her for years but then I was assigned to work in her classroom. I also learned that she was mentoring a dear friend of mine! Our lives have crisscrossed many times through the years and I remember her with so much love and gratitude. She was one of the greatest influences in my children's lives and I will always remember her fondly! I am so sorry for the loss of a wonderful and caring teacher, a good friend to many, her amazing humor, her passion to educate, her vibrant smile and her ability to take over a room! God Bless her , Rest In Peace.
Dear Jack, We are so sorry to learn of Linda's passing. We always enjoyed listening to you folks share your travel adventures with us. Our prayers will be for you and your family. Fondly, Sue and Gus

Mrs. Martins was the kindest, most loving, caring, and bubbly person I have ever known! I babysat Eric in the mid-70s, and reconnected with her when I started my teaching career at Chestnut Ridge back in 2003. She will be greatly missed.
To Linda's Family. Linda was an extraordinary person. She was an advocate for literacy instruction in Wash. Twp. Public Schools, unlike any other. She led the charge to keep our Middle School literacy program intact with courage, tenacity, and love for the students of WTPS. I admired her intelligence, understanding of educational philosophy, and her eternal desire to do what was right and moral for the children with whom she interacted. Linda Martins is a hero to me. She is truly irreplaceable. I hold her up to all teachers as a model to be followed. I will miss her very much. My deepest condolences to Jack and the family.
