Well where to start. I have so many fond memories of Uncle John. I remember him coming home from the war and Grandmom having a big party for him. I remember Kathy, Maureen and my self carrying flags and marching I, Grandmom's living room singing when Johnny come marching home. I remember being down the shore in Wildwood as kids and Uncle Johnny riding the waves with the rafts you could rent on the beach. I remember crabbing off the dock at the Shawcrest mobile home park. I particularly remember when the Eagles played Dallas for the NFC championship at the Vet and Uncle John was working the game and snuck me into the game.(Eagles Won). One of the coldest games ever. Uncle John was an awesome man. Always lending a hand to others and always caring for his family and giving them the best of him to them. Uncle John you will surely be missed, but your memories will live on in each and everyone of us. Godspeed. My deepest condolences to Aunt Bet, Susan and John. Love Karen
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Brendan McPoyle left a message on June 9, 2019:
Uncle John was always such an intriguing man to me. I remember having vacations down at the home in Cape May, him telling me to just “act crazy” on the El if anybody bothered me. I took this as fact because he was a Detective, (I realized he was so much more later), and was enamored how he revolutionized the Schyulkill River patrol by demanding lights on the beidges to assist in patrolling. I was amazed by his service in the Vietnam War and his taste for Pall Mall cigarettes, unfiltered. I could be wrong on many of these facts but to me, Uncle John was a Hero. He was a great example of a Patriot, of a man who gave his life to his country, community, and family. Service Always. I thought he was great, and my Mother loved him, and, well, he made a great impression in my life. I am grateful and he is surely missed. My condolences and love to the Gallagher family.
