There are no words to describe the pain in all our hearts. From the depths of our souls to the deepest corners of our hearts, my brother Ricky was everything to all of us. I was 13 years older than my baby brother. I remember the day he was born and the first time I got to hold him and look at his perfect little face. Love at first site. He continued to grow into a perfect little toddler, with big sisters, Nina, and Shale, to dote over him. Not long after he turned 2 he was delighted to have a brand new baby brother, Julian. You could always count on him to cause boyish mischief, like sneaking out front and trying to take his parents car for a spin. He didn’t get very far because 3 year olds can’t reach peddles but it rolled a few feet in neutral, which delighted him beyond measure. As we all tapped frantically on the glass pleading for him to unlock the doors, he just laughed harder and jumped higher and continued steering his “race car”! Similar events ensued over the years. Never a dull Moment. Music was a big part of his life. It all started with his incredible dance moves to mc Hammer, you can’t touch this. He would entertain his entire family dancing and singing Alone or with his Little brother Julian whom he adored and often tortured in the most loving of ways. In his teenage years he loved making music and would sit for hours mixing and making new tracks. They were so good he had even sold them on occasion As a little boy he would walk the long way home hoping to find his uncle Jason driving by in his race car so he could hitch a ride and go fast and listen to the engine whirring and the occasional tire peel out. Fast cars, dirt bikes any thing with an engine Ricky learned how to ride young from his dad uncle big Rich and Jason. He soon was doing wheelies with his siblings and nieces in tow. Ricky loved his family, his baby brother was no exception and would protect and love him unconditionally always. However, he felt like he earned the right to play pranks and torture him every chance he got. He was his big brother after all. In fact Ricky had an uncanny way of imitating all of his family and making us laugh at ourselves and each other. Time certainly does go by, Families get busy and too much time goes by in between gatherings. Ricky wasn’t having that. He was a family man and wanted to always be with one or all of us any given day. He would call me and say where were you last week, you missed a good dinner and great time. Awhile back I noticed a text message coming through my phone. I opened it, a group text with all my family. This group text and my brother Ricky would bring about a change in our family. Suddenly we were all texting back and forth becoming more deeply involved in each other’s lives. Getting closer. Gatherings with the family and his babies Vincent and Eric, and his beautiful girlfriend Julie. It is the happiest my entire family has been. This was all my brother Ricky wanted, was to be close to and around the people he loved always. He accomplished something that to me is a miracle. Bringing us together spending time with him and one another cooking laughing loving each other. My brother turned out to be an amazing man and father. He would protect each and every one of us and often did.When he believed in something he backed it up and stood tall. He was the apple of my eye and every time we saw each other we both lit up. That smile lit up a room and lit up my senses and will never be forgotten. Michelle DeMatteo

I frequently remember when you were little, probably 3 or 4, and we would drive around in my Jeep. You were fascinated & I was happy to have a sweet moment to spend with you while you visited our family with your mom. Your little hand helped me shift the gears in the Jeep & you looked up at me so proud. We drove all around the neighborhood... I didn’t have the opportunity to spend much time with you as an adult, but you will always remain my little cousin & that special time will always remain in my heart. Rest in love sweet cousin ✨
