Daniel J. Mangini, Sr.,
On October 13, 2017, of Washington Twp. Age 84.
Dan was born in South Philadelphia on July 30, 1933 to parents William and Anna. He was the beloved husband of the late Jeanette (nee Angelucci). Devoted father of Daniel J. Mangini (Deborah), and Tina Brendlinger (Michael). Loving grandfather of Sherry, Sarah, Daniel III, Stephen, Joseph, Benjamin. Proud great-grandfather of the late Jordon.
He graduated from Southern High School for Boys in 1952. He served our country in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 in the 101st Airborne Division/160th Engineering Group. He also played for the U.S. Army football team. With his wife Jeanette and his children Dan and Tina he moved to Washington Township N.J. where he started his over 25 year involvement in local government. First as a Washington Township Committeeman where it was his honor to be Mayor in 1980. He also served on the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
He enjoyed working hard to make Washington Township and all of Gloucester County a great place to live and work. Dan spent his career working as a Design Engineer in the Commercial Refrigeration Industry where he had many of his designs patented. Dan never had trouble voicing his opinion during conversations with colleagues, family and friends. His love for life included working on cars, building model airplanes, collecting model cars, going to the casino and spending time with his family and his cat James. His witty and unfiltered personality will be missed by those who loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Tuesday 9:30 – 11:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Funeral Service 11:00 AM. Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Daniel’s memory may be made to the Camden County Animal Shelter, 125 County House Road, Blackwood, NJ 08012.
