Amelia Appel also known as “ Tootsie” was born in Philadelphia on May 2, 1934 where she was raised by her parents in South Philly. She worked in the bank as a book keeper where she met at married her husband Edward in 1959. She raised two sons and was blessed with seven Grandchildren. In her later years she worked for a drs. office as a receptionist enjoying every moment.
In her Spare time she loved cooking Sunday dinners, playing cards, enjoying a good glass of wine, coffee, a cigarette, and most of all going to the casino. Her favorite things to eat where pasta, Pizzelles, Stogliatella, Biscotts and a South Philly Cheesesteak.
When she became a grandmother she was so proud. Babysitting was something she looked forward too. whether playing hide and seek, making cookies, going to Toys R Us or going to get crab fires at Chickes and Petes was something she enjoyed.
Tootsie cherished every celebration, holiday, or just casual dinners with her family.
Disney world was a favorite of hers only being there a few times she still would always say “ I would love to go back just one more time”, however never got the chance.
She will be remember as mom mom with her beautiful white hair and her Dimples.
Tootsies humor was one of a kind, either you laughed, got mad at her, or insulted. she was Tootsie but you loved her.
The memory of Tootsie will always be that you knew when she would enter a room because her presence was never silent, saying nothing and just being, was still so loud. She was Strong, caring, loving and told you exactly what she thought. She was a wonderful wife, mother, mother in law, and Mom Mom. What more can a family ask for. She was a special woman with so many things she will be remembered for.
